Let the Right One In

Kåre Hedebrant, Lina Leandersson. Foreign film. Oskar, a bullied 12-year old, dreams of revenge. He falls in love with Eli, a peculiar girl. She can't stand the sun or food and to come into a room she needs to be invited. Eli gives Oskar the strength to hit back but when he realizes that Eli needs to drink other peoples blood to live he's faced with a choice. How much can love forgive?

Oh man, this preview is creepy as hell. I love the sparse dialogue, the cinematography. At first I thought it was French, but I'm pretty sure it's Swedish. Definitely a film to look more into.

A good movie to check out.

Children of Men
Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine. Envisages a world one generation from now that has fallen into anarchy on the heels of an infertility defect in the population. The world’s youngest citizen has just died at 18, and humankind is facing the likelihood of its own extinction.

This had a realistic view that's hard to find in movies anymore. The way the characters were portrayed, how Owen was missing shoes and had to find someone else's thongs to wear the rest of the movie - it was great. How people were on edge because no one could get pregnant and the war that was going on around them.. it was very believable and jarring. It wasn't too pessimistic or too optimistic. I'm not going to spoil anyone, but there were mixed hopeful and sad feelings in the ending.
